Influences & Connections Vol. 1 - Sneak Peak FOREVER by KAMELOT

English: Finally I can say that the video teaser of my version of FOREVER (Karma, 2001) by the northamerican power symphonic metal band KAMELOT has been published on my Official Youtube Channel! I gotta be honest about it, this song was really difficult to record, not just because Roy Khan is an excellent male singer, but that singing this kind of metal is really foreign to me. Literally I entered the studio to remove all vocal ideas I had and start from scratch! On this old post you can remember a little bit of what I went through: http://bit.ly/n2lDsg

What I love about recording all these songs for my upcoming album "Influences & Connections Vol. 1" is that I have the chance to explore what have directly influenced me in many ways and  sing them with my personal style. I hope you like my version of this song by the amazing band KAMELOT!

This is awesome! You're Awesome! Now that Roy Khan left Kamelot, why don't you apply for the job? I never thought about the idea of a frontwoman in Kamelot, but your video made me realize that's maybe the change they need to take their music to the next level, I personally hate Fabio Lione, I don't see him in Kamelot at All, you have a deep, dramatic & powerfull voice, totally fitting for this style :)

Anyway! I hope you consider that idea, this is the first video I saw from you I was looking for some covers of kamelot in youtube and found yours (also discovered you have more cover videos, I'll check those out now!)

  2. Hi Patrick, thanks so much for stopping by to write such an inspirational comment :) I love Roy Khan and the powerfull, low and dramatic voice he has + his musicianship on Kamelot. I feel honoured reading your suggestion of me applying to such an amazing band!

It's kinda funny since this song was one of the difficult ones for me to record, I'm not used singing power metal.. but at the end I enjoyed it a lot. Hope you liked the rest of my video teasers, I'll upload another one this weekend!

    Cheers from Peru :)

    Hi Nathalie!
    Thanks for writing me back!
I totally get what you say, Roy's voice was always on the top of my list!

I had the oportunity to see Kamelot back in April with Fabio Lione on Vocals at the Islington Academy in London and although most of the people praised his vocals I wasn't impressed, I can't say he wasn't good (He was spot on!), I just think he comes from a different background and that his voice fits more with other kind of Metal, and personally speaking I just hate the guy hahaha I had the oportunity to meet the guy and he's kind of a dick...

Anyway, I really think that having a female lead vocalist in kamelot will give them the proper "boost" they need now, I encourage you to contact their management and send them some demos of your singin abbilities, If that happens and you become Kamelot's lead vocalist, can I have a free backstage pass? :D HAHAHA kidding, but seriously I hope you try that, everything can happen this days (remember what happened with Journey's new vocalist Arnel Pineda?)

I saw all the videos in your youtube channel and each one confirmed me that you have a unique talent that needs to be showcased to the world! (I loved your rendition of After Forever's TRANSITORY!!)
I'll be waiting on more of your videos!!

  4. Hi Patrick! Thanks for getting back in touch with me, I'm so glad you liked my videos :)

Hahaha, well I don't know Fabio personally, but some of my friends agree with you. I think he would be at least strategically correct if he is nicer to people and specially to potential Kamelot's new era fans. I would have loved to apply to my favourite bands to see if I might go lucky (I absolutely love Steve Perry and there's no doubt Arnel kicks asses, saw them live last year.. wow!), but at the end I realized that what I'm most passionate about is to compose and sing my own songs and discover my own sound. This album is for me to be more experienced on recording songs and sing different metal music subgenres, but I will include one original song on this CD and hope I can put all this experience together to record my second album in 2012/2013 with original songs.

I also have a melodic death metal band called HYPNOX and we're entering the studio next year to record our first album Impervious Nebulosa :) I know it's a long and difficult journey, but I do hope learn a lot this way :)

This is my Facebook Page, it would be awesome to catch up there!

Thanks for being so nice, have a wonderful week! Nathalie
