Influences & Connections Vol. 1 - "Harvest" from progressive death metal band Opeth

Español: No puedo dejar de pensar en la grabación de hoy. He esperado mucho tiempo por justo este mismo día.. el poder grabar una canción de una de mis bandas favoritas de todos los tiempos. Llegó el día de grabar HARVEST (Blackwater Park 2001) de la banda sueca de death metal progresivo OPETH! Esto es bastante importante para mi, es una de mis influencias musicales más grandes para componer mis propias canciones, letras melodías.. y no puedo dejar de admirar a Mikael Akerfeldt, no sólo como músico, sino como ser humano. Obviamente es iluso pensar que el solo maneja OPETH, todos sabemos que detrás de el, hay muchos excelentes músicos y personas que contribuyen a manejar la banda y otras tareas relacionadas a ella. 

Me hubiera encantado poder tener la habilidad vocal desarrollada para poder cantar canciones como THE BAYING OF THE HOUNDS, MASTER'S APPRENTICES, THE GRAND CONJURATION, WHEN, THE MOOR, HEIR APPARENT, etc... tantos temas igual de geniales que es imposible tener favoritos. Como muchos saben, yo por ahora sólo canto con voces limpias, por lo que me debo de ceñir justamente a eso. Si me atreviera a hacer una versión de KARMA con voz limpia, probablemente se escucharía ridículo, sé mis límites, jajaja!

HARVEST es una de mis baladas favoritas de todos los tiempos, era imposible no incluirla en el disco "INFLUENCES & CONNECTIONS VOL. 1" el cuál justamente se caractariza de recopilar mis mayores influencias musicales con el pasar del tiempo. Espero que todo salga bien hoy, con fuerza nomás!

English: I just can't stop thinking about the recordings of today. I've been waiting such a long time for this day to come... the possibility to record one song of one of my favourites all-time band. Today I'll record HARVEST (Blackwater Park 2001) from the swedish progressive death metal band OPETH! This is huge for me, it's my most influential band to compose my own songs, lyrics, melodies... and I jut can't stop admiring Mikael Akerfelft, not only as musician, but also as human being. He's truly admirable. Obviously it's illusive to asume that he runs OPETH alone, we all know that behind him, there are several excellent persons and musician who also contribute to run the band and further related tasks. 

I would have loved to have the developed vocal ability to sing songs like THE BAYING OF THE HOUNDS, MASTER'S APPRENTICES, THE GRAND CONJURATION, WHEN, THE MOOR, HEIR APPARENT, etc.. so many tracks equally amazing that is impossible for me to pick up favourites. As many of you know, for now I only sing with clean vocals, that's why I have to limit myself to just those songs. If would dare to do my version of KARMA with clean voices, it would probably sound ridiculous, I know my limits well, hahaha!

HARVEST is one of my favourite ballads of all time, it was impossible for me not to include it on my "INFLUENCES & CONNECTIONS VOL. 1" album, which exactly portrays compiling my most important musical influences as the years passed by. I hope everything goes well today!

Nathalie Markoch - NEW PhotoShoot w/ Jose Cuadros

Español: En estas dos semanas, he estado promocionando poco a poco el lanzamiento de mi nueva PÁGINA EN FACEBOOK. Los que han tenido oportunidad de darle una chequeada, han podido notar que subí un álbum especial que no lo tengo en mi perfil personal. Este álbum contiene fotos especiales de la sesión que tuve con un excelente fotógrafo peruano, el cuál ha vivido muchos años y en Atlanta; su nombre es JOSE CUADROS. 

Hace un par de meses, JOSE vino de visita a Perú y tuvimos la suerte de conocernos previamente a la sesión de fotos, la cuál hicimos en el parque "El Reducto" en Miraflores. Lo que me convenció de trabajar con el no sólo fue el hecho de que era un excelente y reconocido profesional, sino que aparte de ser muy amable, entendía el estilo de música que hago y mi forma de ver las cosas. Lo que me sorprendió mucho fue después conocerlo más y saber que le encantaba Anthrax, Ozzy, W.A.S.P, entre otras bandas y hasta tenía los cassettes! Jajaja, toda una caja de sorpresas lml!

Me quedé muy contenta con los resultados, gracias JOSE! Espero que pronto volvamos a trabajar juntos :) Les dejo sus links por si alguno de ustedes necesita un profesional como él:|

English: These past 2 weeks, I've been promoting little by little the launching of my new FACEBOOK LIKE PAGE. Those who had the opportunity to check it out, must have noticed about a new special photo album I uploaded about an excellent peruvian photographer, who lived many years in Atlanta, his name is JOSE CUADROS.

A couple of months ago, JOSE returned to Peru and we had the luck to meet before doing the photoshoot, which took place at "El Reducto" Park in Miraflores. What conviced me about working with him, was not only the fact that he was an excellent and well known photographer, but also for being a very kind person and how he understood the kind of music I do and the way I see things. What surprised a lot after knowing him better, is that he loves Anthrax, Ozzy, W.A.S.P & many other bands, and he even own old tapes! Hahaha, he's a box full of surprises lml!

I'm very happy with the results, thanks a bunch JOSE! I hope to work again soon with you :) I leave here his contact links in case anyone of you are in need of a great professional like him:

Influences & Connections - "Auctioned" de Dark Tranquillity

Español: Quería contarles que esta semana que pasó terminé de grabar una nueva canción para mi disco de versiones INFLUENCES & CONNECTIONS VOL. 1. Se trata de una canción bien subestimada del album PROJECTOR que lanzó la banda de melodic death metal sueca DARK TRANQUILLITY en el año 1999. Yo comencé a escuchar a DT recién en el 2006, justamente con su disco más suave, el PROJECTOR. 

Me presentaron ese disco como uno de los mejores de la banda, y sin error. Si bien DT se caracteriza por ser una de las mejores bandas de Melodic Death Metal actuales, teniendo el sonido de Gothemburg implícito en sus composiciones, no cabe duda de que el PROJECTOR, aparte de ser su trabajo más suave y sentimental, es uno de los más subestimados. Todos sabemos que los mejores discos (o bueno, al menos en mi opinión) son el GALLERY, DAMAGE DONE, CHARACTER y el FICTION. En verdad, todos sus discos son buenos, pero resaltan los mencionados de todas maneras! 

Me hubiera encantado cantar THE TREASON WALL, THEREIN, PUNISH MY HEAVEN, TERMINUS (WHERE DEATH IS MOST ALIVE), MY NEGATION o la inigualable LOST TO APATHY, pero por ahora no domino la técnica de guturales y quería centrarme en explotar mi voz limpia. Es por eso que de todas las canciones de DT, la que más me gusta es AUCTIONED. 

Ahora estoy terminando de ultimar los detalles de esta canción, así como de las que ya terminé de grabar en estas últimas semanas, los videos adelanto los subiré pronto a mi Canal Oficial de Youtube! Gracias a todos los que han dado "ME GUSTA" a mi nueva página en Facebook, ya somos más de 300 fans de la música y sobretodo del metal. Seguiré actualizando esa cuenta y la cuenta personal la iré dejando de lado. Saludos y gracias de nuevo por apoyar tanto mi trabajo :D!

English: I wanted to tell you that last week I finished recording one new song for my versions album INFLUENCES & CONNECTIONS VOL. 1. I'm talking about a very underrated song from the PROJECTOR album that the melodeath swedish band  DARK TRANQUILLITY released in 1999.  

A friend introduced me in 2006 to this album saying it was one of their best albums, without mistake. Although DT is recognized as one of the best contemporary Melodic Death Metal bands, having that Gothemburg sound implicit in their compositions, there's no doubt that the PROJECTOR album is a very underrated one. It is known that their best albums (well, at least that's my opinion) are the GALLERY, DAMABE DONE, CHARACTER and FICTION. Actually all their albums are very good, but the ones mentioned definitely stand out!

I'd have loved singing THE TREASON WALL, THEREIN, PUNISH MY HEAVEN, TERMINUS (WHERE DEATH IS MOST ALIVE), MY NEGATION o the unbeatable LOST TO APATHY, but I still don't master the growls technique and I wanted to focus on my clean vocals. That's why I chose AUCTIONED from all DT songs to include it on my album.  

Now I'm finishing the last details of this song, as well as doing it with the other songs I finished recording in the last weeks, the video teasers will be uploaded on my Official Youtube Channel! Thanks big time to everyone that has "LIKED" my new Facebook Page so far, we're more than 300 music fans, mainly metal music! Influences & Connections Vol. 1 - Sneak Peak "Transitory" de After Forever

Español: Ahora que me creé la nueva página en FACEBOOK (https://www.facebook.com/NathalieMarkoch.Official) puedo dedicarle más tiempo a lo que nos importa aquí.. la música. Lo publiqué en mi nuevo muro también, pero quería darle un lugar especial en mi blog. Salió el video teaser de mi versión de la canción TRANSITORY de la banda de metal sinfónico AFTER FOREVER. Lamentablemente esta banda se separó en el 2009, continuando con sus proyectos musicales por separado.

Lo que me encanta del último disco de AFTER FOREVER (After Forever 2007, con Nuclear Blast) es que es muchísimo más cañero que sus anteriores producciones. Si bien el DECIPHER (2001, via Transmission Records) es uno de mis discos favoritos de la banda, el "After Forever" se acerca un poco más a un estilo más agresivo con canciones como TRANSITORY, DE-ENERGIZED (con un solazo de Jeff Waters de Annihilator), WHO I AM (con la gran Doro Pesch), WITHERING TIME y el toque progre lo pone DREAMFLIGHT. 

Definitivamente si hay algo que me gusta de AFTER FOREVER es la forma recontra agresiva que canta FLOOR JANSEN, la vocalista de la banda. Aparte de transmitir muchísima energía, no sólo masteriza varias técnicas de canto, sino que su sola presencia en el escenario basta para desnucarse, jajaja. Es sencillamente genial la facilidad cómo cambia de cantar notas agudas líricas a cantar con su voz natural en medios y graves. Sin duda, una mujer de armas tomar! 

Y justamente lo que me gusta del último disco de esta banda es que FLOOR se soltó las trenzas y decidió darlo todo con las canciones más cañeras que escuché de esta banda holandesa. Un metal sinfónico raspando por tracks con melodeath! Por eso que TRANSITORY venía tan a pelo para poder probar lo que era cantar un género que se va acercando a lo que estamos cocinando con las canciones propias de HYPNOX en el disco debut IMPERVIOUS NEBULOSA. Poco a poco la cosa se va definiendo, con paciencia seguimos trabajando!

English: Now that I've created my new like page on FACEBOOK (https://www.facebook.com/NathalieMarkoch.Official) I can focus on what really matters here, the music. I've published on  my new wall already, but I wanted to give it a special place on my blog. The new video teaser for my version of TRANSITORY from the symphonic metal band AFTER FOREVER is already available! It's sad the fact that the band split out in 2009, leading to their members to continue with their musical projects individually. 
What I truly love about the last AFTER FOREVER album (After Forever 2007, through Nuclear Blast) is that this one is much more aggressive than their previous material. Although the DECIPHER ( 2001, through Tranmission Records) is one of my favourites, the AFTER FOREVER has a more aggresive style with songs like TRANSITORY, DE-ENERGIZED (Jeff Waters from Annihilator preforms a great solo here), WHO I AM (with metal queen Doro Pesh), WITHERING TIME and also a progressive touch with DREAMFLIGHT. 
Definitely if there is something I like about AFTER FOREVER is that FLOOR JANSEN sings very aggresively. Besides transmitting a lot of energy, she not only masters a lot of singing techniques, but she only needs her own presence to make the public start headbanguing as crazy, hahaha! It's awesome how easy she changes from singing with her lyric technic to sing with her normal voice in lower or middle tones. 
If there's something I love about AFTER FOREVER is how aggressive FLOOR JANSEN sounds. She's not only a master in all the singin' techniques but also her sole presence on stage is enough to start moshing like a maniac haha. It's really amazing how easy she changes from high soprano to mid/low melodic lines with ease. Without any doubt, she's a woman that takes the bull by the horns!
Thanks to RAFAEL NUNEZ (growls), PEPE GAZZO (all guitars and bass) and PITO GAZZO (keyboards, sampling and producer) for everything! NUEVA PÁGINA EN FACEBOOK! | NEW OFFICIAL FACEBOOK PAGE!

Español: Hoy es un día bien especial para mi.. al fin puedo anunciar que he creado mi propia Página como Músico/Banda en Facebook! Luego de muchas coordinaciones y de preparar algunas sorpresas para el lanzamiento, por fin la tengo lista para poder publicarla :)

Con respecto a mi Perfil Personal en esa Red Social, lo seguiré actualizando como hasta ahora, pero poco a poco lo haré con menos frecuencia, con el propósito de que las personas que sinceramente quisieran recibir actualizaciones de mi trabajo y de mi música, puedan seguir haciéndolo migrando a mi nuevo LIKE PAGE.

He creado esta nueva Página en Facebook, debido a que éste tiene un límite de conexiones cuando tienes un Perfil Personal (sólo se permiten tener 5,000 contactos) y por otro lado, es mucho más fácil de administrar! Espero que todos los que deseen seguir recibiendo noticias de todo lo que se viene con el lanzamiento de "Influences & Connections Vol.1", de mi trabajo como compositora para otras bandas de metal peruano, de mi trabajo con mi banda de melodic death metal HYPNOX y demás proyectos en los que estoy enfocándome ahora último, puedan seguir haciéndolo dándole LIKE a mi nueva página!

Aparte del lanzamiento de este nuevo perfil, quiero anunciar que ya se encuentra disponible el 4to Video Teaser de las canciones que vengo grabando para mi disco "I&C Vol. 1"! Se trata de la canción TRANSITORY de la banda holandesa AFTER FOREVER. También quiero agradecer muchísimo al Fotógrafo Peruano Jose Cuadros por la Nueva Sesión de Fotos, fue genial y muy divertido trabajar con el :) Pueden ver el video de Transitory (AFTER FOREVER Cover), así como la Sesión de Fotos dándole LIKE a mi Página!

Se que ya lo saben, porque se los he dicho varias veces individualmente o en algunas publicaciones, pero no puedo dejar de decírselos ahora. GRACIAS por haberme apoyado desde el primer día, por toda su buena onda, por sus palabras de aliento y también por sus críticas constructivas! Son el combustible de mis ganas de seguir luchándola :)

English: It's a special day for me.. finally I can announce that I've already published my own Facebook Like Page as a Musician/Band! After several coordinations and preparing some surprises for the launching, I've got it ready to go public :)

Talking about my Personal Facebook Profile, I will still keep updating it as always, but I will decrease the frecuency of my posts, trying to get the people that really care about my job and want to keep receiving information about my music, to migrate to my new Facebook LIKE Page.

I've created this new Like Page, due to the facebook limited connections that the personal profile has. Soon I won't be able to accept more contacts (only 5,000 friends are allowed) and furthermore, it's way easier to manage! I hope that everyone that would like to keep receiving updates about the launching of "Influences & Connections Vol. 1" album, my work as songwriter for other peruvian metal bands, my melodic death metal band HYPNOX and further projects I've been lately focusing on, can still doing so by clicking LIKE on my new Facebook Page!

Besides the launching of my new Page, I would happily like to announce that my 4th video teaser is available.
