Influences & Connections Vol. 1 - Sneak Peek CANDLELIGHT FANTASIA by SYMPHONY X

ESPAÑOL: Con este post culmina la etapa de la publicación de los videos adelanto de los covers que grabé para incluirlos en mi disco INFLUENCES & CONNECTIONS VOL. 1. Ha sido un arduo trabajo, prácticamente todo el 2011 nos dedicamos exclusivamente a la pre-producción, grabación y promoción de los 14 covers + mi canción propia y la verdad es que ha sido una experiencia totalmente gratificante... he aprendido muchísimo! 

Viendo en retrospectiva, me da risa el leer posts antigüos cuando recién comenzaba a hablar acerca de mis avances en la música, mis ideas, las cosas que me gustaban (como el libro de cocina metalera de la cantante de Cauchemar!) y los momentos de malhumor también. El hecho de poder volcar mis pensamientos aquí ha sido de muchísima ayuda para mantenerme cuerda y seguir esforzándome cada vez más. Ahora que ya terminé de grabar el disco y estamos luchando por terminar con la fase de post-producción lo antes posible, he pasado a ensayar con la banda y a retomar los escenarios... algo que anhelaba hacía tiempo!

Hoy la etapa de videos adelanto de covers a su fin con la presentación de mi versión de CANDLELIGHT FANTASIA (DIVINE WINGS OF TRAGEDY, 1997) original de la banda de metal progresivo norteamericana SYMPHONY X. Fue bastante complicada adaptar tremenda canción a una versión para mi registro vocal, pero la verdad es que no podía dejar de lado esta obra maestra compuesta por los maestros Michael Romeo, Michael Pinnella (música) y Thomas Miller (letra). 

Espero les guste! Pronto revelaré el título de mi canción propia y posiblemente pueda grabar un videoclip de la misma, justamente estoy en conversaciones para decidir si se podrá lograr, ojalá que sí. Estoy planeando realizar shows tanto eléctricos como acústicos, a penas tenga las fechas fijas y los locales, lo anunciaré con flyer oficial en mano. ENGLISH: With this last post I end the phase of publishing video teasers of the covers I recorded to include on my upcoming album as a solo artist INFLUENCES & CONNECTIONS VOL. 1. It's been such a hard work that practically lasted all 2011, dedicating ourselves exclusively on the pre-production, recording and promotion of the 14 covers + 1 original song. It has been an awesome experience... I've learned a lot!

Going back in time, I grin each time I read some of my old posts, when I started talking about my progress on music, my ideas and the stuff I like (e.g. the Heavy Metal Cookbook by the singer of Cauchemar!) and also my moments why fuming about something. The fact that I could write down here how I felt at the time was a tremendous help for me to stay focused and keep on working harder each time. Now that I've finished recording the whole album, we're putting all our efforts in finishing the post-production phase as soon as possible. I've returned to rehearse with the band and also play live... something I was longing for so long!

Today the video teaser publishing stage has come to an end with the presentation of my version of CANDLELIGHT FANTASIA (DIVINE WINGS OF TRAGEDY, 1997) by the northamerican progressive metal band SYMPHONY X. It was very complicated for us to adapt such a kick ass song to a customized version for my vocal range, but the truth is that I couldn't just put aside this masterpiece originally written by the masters Michael Romeo, Michael Pinnella (music) y Thomas Miller (lyrics). 

I hope you all enjoy it! Soon I'll be able to reveal the title of my original song and luckily I would be able to record an official video. I'm also planing on playing some electric and acoustic live shows and I will be announcing them as soon as I have the fix dates and places, along with the official flyers. Influences & Connections Vol. 1 - Sneak Peek VICTORY [Creature of the Night] by HEAVENLY

ESPANIOL: Les presento el nuevo video adelanto de mi versión de la canción VICTORY (CREATURE OF THE NIGHT) de la banda de power metal francés HEAVENLY. La versión completa estará incluida en mi primer disco como solista titulado INFLUENCES & CONNECTIONS VOL. 1, el cuál está muy próximo a salir a la luz. Para algunos que me conocen personalmente de tiempo, coincidirán conmigo que era prácticamente imposible que no incluyera una canción del excelente disco conceptual DUST TO DUST del año 2004. Desde el primer día en que escuché EVIL, LUST FOR LIFE, FIGHT FOR DELIVERANCE y obviamente VICTORY, esta banda logró obsesionarme. Para mi, todo el disco es una joya del power metal, todos los integrantes le inyectan una dosis de adrenalina muy peculiar y...  BEN SOTTO.. qué voz! 

Definitivamente el lograr grabar esta versión no fue cosa fácil. Agradezco a ADOLFO y a PEPE GAZZO por la ardua tarea de escuchar esta canción 344 mil millones de veces para poder reproducir las notas de cada instrumento, de cada armonía vocal! Y claro que no podría haberlo logrado sin la oportuna intervención de RAFAEL NUNEZ en las voces masculinas, gracias a todos :) 

Aprovecho para recordarles que presentaré un adelanto de lo que se viene en mi primera producción en el concierto de Aniversario del portal alternativo DISTURBIA MAGAZINE este 21 de Marzo a las 10:00pm en LA NOCHE DE BARRANCO. Pueden leer más al respecto en este link. Este concierto servirá de antesala para la presentación oficial de INFLUENCES & CONNECTIONS VOL. 1 en dónde tocaré los 15 tracks (incluida una canción original). Espero que les guste todo lo que estoy preparando para los próximos anuncios, paso a paso y con paciencia espero lograr todo lo que tengo en mente :)

ENGLISH: I present you the new video teaser for my version of VICTORY (CREATURE OF THE NIGHT) from the french power metal band HEAVENLY. The complete version of this song will be included on my first full-lenght album as a solo artist entitled INFLUENCES & CONNECTIONS VOL. 1, which is soon to be launched. For some of you that know me for some time, you'll agree that it was almost impossible for me not to include a song from the amazing conceptual album DUST TO DUST, released in 2004. Since the first time I listened to songs like EVIL, LUST FOR LIFE, FIGHT FOR DELIVERANCE and of course VICTORY, this band managed to make me obsessed about them. For me, this is a true diamond in the rough, every band member brings such an adrenaline boost to the songs and.. BEN SOTTO.. what a voice! 

Recording this track was definitely not an easy task. I'm very grateful to ADOLFO and PEPE GAZZO for the hard work of listening to this song 344 thousand million times just to reproduce every instrument's notes, every vocal harmony! And of course, I wouldn't have achieved this without the support of RAFAEL NUNEZ on the men's vocals, thanks big time all of you :)  

To make the most of this post I want to remind you that I will be presenting a LIVE CONCERT on March 21st at LA NOCHE DE BARRANCO (10:00pm) to mark the 1st Anniversary of the online website DISTURBIA MAGAZINE. This gig will act like an anteroom for the official release party of  INFLUENCES & CONNECTIONS VOL. 1, where I'll preform the 15 tracks (my original song included). I hope you all like what I'm preparing for the upcoming announcements, step by step and with loads of patience I hope to achieve all what I've got in mind :)

Influences & Connections Vol. 1 - Sneak Peek SHE IS MY SIN by NIGHTWISH

ESPAÑOL Les presento un nuevo video adelanto de mi versión de SHE IS MY SIN original de la banda finlandesa de metal sinfónico NIGHTWISH. Esta canción pertenece al álbum WISHMASTER lanzado en el 2000 vía Spinefarm Records. No puedo describir lo que siento al escuchar las canciones de este disco, sin duda es mi favorito de la banda y fue el primer disco completo de metal que escuché en mi vida! Es por esto que le tengo tanto cariño a NIGHTWISH con la voz de TARJA TURUNEN, ya que esta etapa me inspiró a seguir un camino que yo creía inexistente! Es todo un honor poder interpretar esta canción y recuerdo cuando pude hablar un ratito con ella cuando vino a Lima en el 2011, fue una experiencia única!

Definitivamente SHE IS MY SIN es una de las canciones qué más se apega al género POWER METAL dentro de este álbum junto a WISHMASTER. Me encanta, porque todo el disco en general hace referencia a temas fantasiosos y algunos bastante conocidos como "The Lord of The Rings" y "Dragonlance", pero no deja de ser variado incluyendo baladas y canciones relacionadas a las películas animadas de Disney como FANTASMIC. 

Espero que les guste mi versión de este tema, la versión completa estará incluida en mi álbum INFLUENCES & CONNECTIONS VOL. 1 el cuál estoy a muy poco de lanzar! Este primer material está pensado en formato Digipack, a penas pueda confirmar la fecha exacta del lanzamiento y fechas en vivo, lo publicaré en mi PAGINA OFICIAL DE FACEBOOK :D

ENGLISH: This is a new video teaser of my version of SHE IS MY SIN by the finish symphonic metal band NIGHTWISH. This track is included on their 3rd studio album entitled WISHMASTER, launched in 2000 via Spinefarm Records. I can't describe what I feel while listening to the songs of this album, there's no doubt it's my band's favourite and the first metal album I listened from the start to the end! This is why I love so much NIGHTWISH with TARJA TURUNEN on vocals, this era inspired me to follow a path I believed non-existent! It's an honor for me to sing this song in particular and this reminds me when she played with her band in Lima and I had the chance to talk to her for a few minutes, it was an unique experience :)

Definitely SHE IS MY SIN is one of the album's songs that its sound could be catalogued as power metal, along with WISHMASTER. I love this album, because in general the lyrics relate to fantasy themes like "The Lord of The Rings" and "Dragonlance", but it doesn't mean that this album lacks variety. It also includes ballads and songs related to Disney's animated movies like the song FANTASMIC. 

I really hope you like my version of this track, the whole song will be included on my album INFLUENCES & CONNECTIONS VOL. 1, which is due to be released very soon! This first album will be launched in a Digipack format, as soon as I can confirm the release date and the live gigs I'll publish it on my OFFICIAL FACEBOOK PAGE :D

Influences & Connections Vol. 1 - Sneak Peek AUCTIONED by DARK TRANQUILLITY

Español: Recuerdo haber escuchado por primera vez el álbum Projector (1999) de la banda sueca de death metal melódico Dark Tranquillity cuando yo no tenía mucha experiencia escuchando bandas de  este sub-género o de death metal en general. En ese entonces, no me acostumbraba a escuchar los guturales tan crudos y mis oídos aún no habían sido educados para comprender las increíbles melodías de guitarras y bajo que podía encontrar en canciones de bandas de metal agresivo. Ni qué decir que en ese entonces, nunca había escuchado que una batería pudiera alcanzar los niveles de complejidad y velocidad que podemos encontrar en el brutal death metal. 

Fue realmente emocionante comenzar a descubrir este nuevo mundo con un álbum que se caracterizó por haber sido el más tranquilo, melancólico y elegante de esta gran banda. Me quedé muy sorprendida al escuchar Auctioned, la primera canción que escuché de ellos. Era tan hermosa, la voz de Michael Stanne era perfecta, grave, de barítono, con mucho sentimiento y no podía creer que la misma persona tuviera un total opuesto en canciones como Nether Novas o Therein. Fue así que poco a poco fui interesándome por los guturales, por escuchar otros discos de Dark Tranquillity en dónde el sonido de Gothenburg era aún más predominante. Se podría decir que esta banda fue mi puente desde el Metal Gótico/Sinfónico + P ower Metal al Death Metal Melódico. 

Les dejo entonces el adelanto de mi versión de Auctioned, la canción completa estará incluida en mi álbum "Influences & Connections Vol. 1" que estará próximo a salir a la luz. Estoy tratando de adelantar lo más posible tanto el lanzamiento como la presentación del disco en vivo, a darle con fuerza y espero que les guste este adelanto! English: I remember listening for the first time the Projector (1999) album by the swedish metal band Dark Tranquillity when I didn't have much experience listening to melodic death metal bands or death metal bands in general. In those days I wasn't used to listen to raw growls and my ears weren't prepared to understand the incredible guitar and bass melodies that could be found on aggressive metal bands. And of course, I have to say that I had never listened to drums reaching such complex and high velocity levels that the ones that can be found on brutal death metal bands. 

It was really special to start discovering this new world with an album that was known for being the most calmed down, melancholic and elegant that this band ever released. I was astonished as I listened to Auctioned, the first song by Dark Tranquillity I was introduced to. It was so beautiful, Michael Stanne's voice was so perfect, deep, baritone styled, so emotional.. and I just couldn't believe that the one I was listening to at that specific moment, could have a totally opposite self on songs like Nether Novas or Therein. This way I started getting involved in growls, just by listening to the rest of Dark Tranquillity albums at the time, in which the Gothenburg Sound was even more predominant. I could say that Dark Tranquillity acted like my bridge from Gothic/Symphonic Metal + Power Metal to Melodic Death Metal. 

Let me introduce you a short sneak peak of my own version of Auctioned, the complete track will be included on my first album "Influences & Connections Vol. 1", which is soon to be released. I'm working hard to try and bring forward the release date and album presentation gig party, I have to put more effort on that! Español: Luego de haber experimentado más fallas técnicas en este último mes que en todos los dos últimos años juntos, puedo finalmente publicar un nuevo video adelanto de lo que será mi primer disco como solista titulado INFLUENCES & CONNECTIONS VOL. 1. Algunos de ustedes me han estado preguntando cuándo publicaré mi versión de HARVEST de la banda sueca de death metal progresivo OPETH y por fin puedo decirles que ya pueden ver un adelanto de este tema en mi Canal Oficial de Youtube lml!

Como ya había comentado en algunos posts anteriores (post1, post2), la grabación de esta canción es muy especial para mi, siempre quise poder interpretar a mi manera las canciones de mi banda favorita, OPETH. Como saben, en esta versión también colabora el vocalista de HELLIUM e HYPNOX Rafael Nuñez, grabando las armonizaciones. Ahora que HARVEST ya está terminada y lista para pasar al proceso de mezcla y masterización no puedo sino esperar a que les guste a ustedes :) También pueden darle ME GUSTA a mi Página Oficial de Facebook dándole click AQUÍ.

English: After experimenting more technical issues in the last month than the past 2 years together, I can finally publish a new video teaser of what´s gonna be my first solo album entitled INFLUENCES & CONNECTIONS VOL. 1. Some of you've been asking me about the publishing date of my version for HARVEST by the swedish progressive death metal band OPETH and I can finally say that you can watch a preview of this song on my Official Youtube Channel lml!

Like said on my previous posts (post1, post2), the recordings of this version were particulary special for me, I always wanted to sing OPETH´s songs (it's my favourite band). As many of you already know, Rafael Nuñez (HYPNOX and HELLIUM´s vocalist) also collaborates making the harmonies. Now that HARVEST is finished and ready to take it for mixing and mastering, I can´t do anything but hope that you guys like it :) You can also LIKE my Official Facebook Page by clicking this LINK.

Influences & Connections Vol. 1 - Sneak Peak "Promises" de The Cranberries

Español: Luego de algo más de un mes de estar a mil con las grabaciones, trabajo y proyectos alternos, puedo publicar un video adelanto nuevo de mi álbum "Influences & Connections Vol. 1"! Esta vez se trata de mi versión de la canción PROMISES [Bury the Hatchet, 1999] de la banda irlandesa de rock alternativo THE CRANBERRIES. Para este mini-videoclip quisimos hacer algo distinto a lo que ya habíamos hecho en los videos adelanto anteriores. Quise darle un toque más personal y filmarlo en unas locaciones que me recuerdan mucho mi niñez. 

Definitivamente mi versión no es una copia de la original, pero tampoco difiere de la escencia con que fue compuesta esta canción. Particularmente no me gustaba la idea de copiar una voz como la de Dolores O'Riordan, la vocalista de la banda, no porque fuera imposible de imitarla, sino porque la forma como ella canta es justamente eso, la forma como ella y tan sólo ella canta. Es su firma, su particularidad como cantante y a mi me fascina. Lo que hice fue amoldar la canción a mi estilo de cantar, pero cuidando que no se perdiera la idea inicial... espero que me haya resultado bien, jajaja! De todas formas, aquí está el video adelanto de PROMISES, espero que les guste!!

English: After more than a month of being from here to there with recordings, work and side projects, I can finally publish a new video teaser of my upcoming album "Influences & Connections Vol. 1"! This time it's about my version of the song PROMISES [Bury the Hatchet, 1999] of the irish alternative rock band THE CRANBERRIES. For this mini-videoclip I wanted to try something different from the older videos. I wanted to give this song a bit of a personal touch and filmed it on some special locations that remind me my childhood.

Definitely my version is not a copy from the original song, but it also doesn't difer from the escence this song was composed from. Particullary I didn't like the idea of copying Dolores O'Riordan's voice, the vocalist of the band, not because it was impossible to imitate it, but because the way she sings it's just that, the way she and only she sings. It's her mark, her signature and characteristic as a singer and I love that. What I did was to adapt the song to my own way of singing, but taking care of not losing the initial idea... I hope it turned out just as planned, hahaha! Anyway, here's the video teaser for PROMISES, hope you all like it!!

NUEVA PÁGINA EN FACEBOOK! | NEW OFFICIAL FACEBOOK PAGE!

Español: Hoy es un día bien especial para mi.. al fin puedo anunciar que he creado mi propia Página como Músico/Banda en Facebook! Luego de muchas coordinaciones y de preparar algunas sorpresas para el lanzamiento, por fin la tengo lista para poder publicarla :)

Con respecto a mi Perfil Personal en esa Red Social, lo seguiré actualizando como hasta ahora, pero poco a poco lo haré con menos frecuencia, con el propósito de que las personas que sinceramente quisieran recibir actualizaciones de mi trabajo y de mi música, puedan seguir haciéndolo migrando a mi nuevo LIKE PAGE.

He creado esta nueva Página en Facebook, debido a que éste tiene un límite de conexiones cuando tienes un Perfil Personal (sólo se permiten tener 5,000 contactos) y por otro lado, es mucho más fácil de administrar! Espero que todos los que deseen seguir recibiendo noticias de todo lo que se viene con el lanzamiento de "Influences & Connections Vol.1", de mi trabajo como compositora para otras bandas de metal peruano, de mi trabajo con mi banda de melodic death metal HYPNOX y demás proyectos en los que estoy enfocándome ahora último, puedan seguir haciéndolo dándole LIKE a mi nueva página!

Aparte del lanzamiento de este nuevo perfil, quiero anunciar que ya se encuentra disponible el 4to Video Teaser de las canciones que vengo grabando para mi disco "I&C Vol. 1"! Se trata de la canción TRANSITORY de la banda holandesa AFTER FOREVER. También quiero agradecer muchísimo al Fotógrafo Peruano Jose Cuadros por la Nueva Sesión de Fotos, fue genial y muy divertido trabajar con el :) Pueden ver el video de Transitory (AFTER FOREVER Cover), así como la Sesión de Fotos dándole LIKE a mi Página!

Se que ya lo saben, porque se los he dicho varias veces individualmente o en algunas publicaciones, pero no puedo dejar de decírselos ahora. GRACIAS por haberme apoyado desde el primer día, por toda su buena onda, por sus palabras de aliento y también por sus críticas constructivas! Son el combustible de mis ganas de seguir luchándola :)

English: It's a special day for me.. finally I can announce that I've already published my own Facebook Like Page as a Musician/Band! After several coordinations and preparing some surprises for the launching, I've got it ready to go public :)

Talking about my Personal Facebook Profile, I will still keep updating it as always, but I will decrease the frecuency of my posts, trying to get the people that really care about my job and want to keep receiving information about my music, to migrate to my new Facebook LIKE Page.

I've created this new Like Page, due to the facebook limited connections that the personal profile has. Soon I won't be able to accept more contacts (only 5,000 friends are allowed) and furthermore, it's way easier to manage! I hope that everyone that would like to keep receiving updates about the launching of "Influences & Connections Vol. 1" album, my work as songwriter for other peruvian metal bands, my melodic death metal band HYPNOX and further projects I've been lately focusing on, can still doing so by clicking LIKE on my new Facebook Page!

Besides the launching of my new Page, I would happily like to announce that my 4th video teaser is available. This time it's about one of the songs included in "I&C Vol.1" album and it's called TRANSITORY from the dutch band AFTER FOREVER. Influences & Connections - Video Teaser de Ever Dream - NIGHTWISH (New Version!)

Retomando la vena musical de la web, quisiera mostrarles un adelanto de lo que se vendrá en mi primer disco como solista titulado "Influences & Connections", producido por Pito Studios. Hace algunas semanas publiqué un post acerca de la grabación de la canción "Ever Dream" de la banda finlandesa de gothic / symphonic metal Nightwish, en el cuál anunciaba que subiría un video teaser, un pequenio adelanto de las grabaciones de esta canción... pues.. al fin pude subirlo a mi canal en Youtube =)

Mi idea detrás de mi versión de esta mítica canción de la era Tarja Turunen en Nightwish era mantener las bases, pero sazonarla con una dosis necesaria de identidad. Aún faltan detalles que ultimar para la versión final (mezcla y master), pero creo que Pito me deja mostrar esta versión sin asesinarme antes, jajaja! 

Y no podía esperar más tiempo en subirla, porque Tarja se viene a Lima en menos de un mes! Se imaginarán mi histeria in crescendo a cada día que pasa... de lo más natural supongo... hasta le mandé un mensaje personalizado para la edición del libro que le iban a entregar los fans! Ojalá que lo haya leído :$
